Chuck Connors was an American actor, and writer. He was also a professional basketball and baseball player. Chuck is one of only 13 athletes in the history of American professional sports to have played in both Major League Baseball (Brooklyn Dodgers and Chicago Cubs) and the National Basketball Association (Boston Celtics).

His most recognizable role is as Lucas McCain in the highly rated television series The Rifleman.

Chuck was born on April 10, 1921. He played both baseball and basketball in high school and got a scholarship to study at Seton Hall University in South Orange. Chuck played in the NBA from 1946 to 1948 and then went on to play in the MLB from 1948 to 1951.

Realizing he might not be successful in professional baseball, he turned his focus to acting and made his film debut in Pat and Mike.

In 1958, Chuck got his breakthrough role on the ABC sitcom The Rifleman. The show was an instant hit and it aired for five seasons. He usually typed cast as a western rancher and he was featured on Arrest and Trial, and Law and Order.

Chuck Connors died on November 10, 1992, from lung cancer at the age of 71.
